You couldn't even get him to come in the house ! Those jbl speakers may be somewhat lacking in "detail" an audiophile might say , but they will roll out the stones .
I like the kenwood just fine it is a basic unit but I knew that going in . It does have 2 nice features a variable loudness knob ( I despise loudness controls of any sort but my buddy uses em) and a subsonic filter , that will free up a few watts .
The preamp is clean , which was my main concern , although I haven't checked using tom's reference steely dan cd (I'll get around to it) .
The taper on the volume pot is real nice , slow and gradual doesn't top out all at once .
For the money (130 bux reconditioned as needed by jerry at oaktree)I'd say its a pretty good buy.
The jbl 6290 power amp at ~250 dollars is stealing ! That motherfucker's got balls !
