I remember a plethora of needles at one time, from economy to ridiculously expensive. There seemed to be an endless variety in terms of quality and application. Then about the time CD's came out this vast assortment had dwindled drastically. What was once a myriad of choices for a single application had become more of a "one size fits all" kind of deal. I bought my last needle around 1985 for around $20.
