Response to Blues, Another Name for "Crappy Rock"?

No disprespect to subpar musicians, as we all have to start somewhere (myself included)...but I interpret Dave's topic more as a disappointment/disappointing experience stemming from the musicianship of the performers (am I right, Dave?).

And it's not just blues, there is sup-par quality in all forms of music along with the good musicians and artists. Just like engine parts (good and bad quality), engineers (good ones and lousy ones), etc.

As of late though, I have been musing that up and coming artists of good musical capability seem to be diminishing. Can't tell you how many times I have turned on Letterman or Leno because, "cool (so and so) is performing and I'd like to see that!" Then I watch the performance and think to myself, "these guys can't play! They're a producer's studio creation!"

Yes, there is still some truth that there are astounding musicians out there that are giving excellent performances but not getting the deserved recognition nor are they making a career out of it even if they wish. But those numbers seem to be dwindling, and my observation is that much of the new talent is, well, not that talented.

Dave, I'll bet that based on your recent experience at the blues festival, you felt motiviated to get up there yourself (maybe next year) and give a performance worthy of the audience's appreciation.

Anyway, I digress, coincdientally I need to be at the studio in exactly one hour and still need to shower. (I know what you're all thinking: fricken singers, always late!")

Gotta go!

Paul
