....and what I'm usually known for:
I took the MF apart. That is, just enough to see if the tube glows or not.
The tube is covered in a black coating with a bright orange "GT" logo on it. While the electronics were out of the machined case, I powered up the mic and turned off the lights.
She glows from under the black coating and through the exposed (uncoated) glass at the very bottom of the tube. Didn't bother with a voltage check, etc...as I noted before it still sounds as it always did. Prety tiny condenser.

p.s.: Interestingly, we are currently mixing in a ProTools studio in San Francisco, and for the lead vox we tried an interesting setup:
After capturing 4 tracks of lead vox per song with the above setup, we hoped to blend those 4 tracks and get a good, round sound...of course we dropped the C1000's but believe it or not we ended up using most of the MD1A and backing it with the AT4060! Whooda thought...
