I'm back as well. Been quite a while since my last post. Life got in the way. I decided after a thirty year hiatus to pick up the guitar again. My son has a PRS and a blackface super, so I've got to regain my ground!
I just bought off ebay a used Fender Blues Junior. Looks like a good amp to get me started. It's physically the right size and at 15W has all the power I'll need in my home office. I only wish it had tube rectification. The reviews I've read comment on how hot it runs and recommend installing a mod kit for the bias, as well as a couple other tone related changes. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Just to bring back memories of my old Fender gear, I'm installing a JBL D120F. Speaker distortion isn't the sound I'm looking for anyway, but JBL warmth is.
If I keep at it I'd like to build the Ceritone 18W Marshall clone. Looks like a terrific amp, but will cost twice that of the Blues Junior.
