| I was just wondering if the Groove Tubes KT66HP is still avaliable... This is the Sovtek version of this tube and we've been using them in our Marshall amps and we really like the sound. I just happened to go to the Groove Tubes website and I didn't see the HP version listed, only the Chineese.

I have not tried the JJ version of the KT66 but I've used their stuff in the past with great results, E34L etc.
I wonder how it sounds compared to the Sovtek version?

Ive read that good amp techs can easily reconfigure 6L6's for marshal types......dunno if it's true.
I definitely like the low end of the 6L6 compared to the EL34. |

Putting a 6L6 into a Marshall circuit is very easy to do. All that's needed it to alter the range of the bias pot to allow the 6L6 to bias properly. On my Marshalls I've been very pleased with the sound of the KT66HP that Groove Tubes sells, they are a cool mix between an EL34 and a 6L6, sort of the best of both worlds.
