First is a shot of a 612 cab with a 515C 15" driver and a MRII594 horn with a 288K driver. I used an N500F crossover. The cabs originally had 605A coaxials. I built a two-piece baffle board assembly to resize the port and allow front loading of the 515s.

Here is one of my A5s. I took an old pair of 825 cabs and skinned them with 1/2" baltic birch marine-grade plywood. I added some internal stiffening and filled the inside of the horn flairs with foam to reduce vibrations and to reduce the internal volume a bit. The drivers are the ones used in the 612 cabs.

I'll add that to my threat collection.

1) Exponential

2) Wonderful

3) They were designed to deliver vocals (film dialog) to every corner of the auditorium. It is said that a tuned horn and crossover for 800 cycles instead of 500 smooths out the low mid transistion. I never had an 800 cycle horn to try it. Also, the multicell horns are preferred.

4) Guitar (recorded) sounded great.

5) Altec is famous for it's detail. I used to enjoy cranking Dead Can Dance on these.

I'll add that to my threat collection.

They are like 604s except that the horn is a bit more forward.

Which has to be dealt with. Cool thing about the horn loading of the woofer is that cone movement is reduced. This allows more bass for less excursion. Plenty of reserve!

I'll add that to my threat collection.
