The 1474 twin 12 is, in my opinion, the best of all of the Silvertone amps. Allow me to qualify that statement. The 1474, in stock condition, is a dog. Muddy, slow, lethargic. The reverb worked poorly new, and usually does not work at all when you find the amp. But, when modified, when you fix the poor design, when you rebias the output, when you rewire the filament circuit, when you rewire it to replace the 6CG7 with a 12AX7, when you apply noise-control, when you remove unneeded components, you end up with a wild, powerful amp with a tome that is a cross of an AC30 and an early tweed Twin.

The modifications required are extensive, but they completely change the character of the amp.

What do you plan to do with it? What kind of stuff do you like to play?
