My hair caught fire during rehearsal the other day.
We record every single one of our rehearsals, and so we captured the pyrotechnic incident. By the way, we record all our rehearsals because we have found that, as a progressive rock jam band, a lot of great grooves and ideas happen during those jams and rehearsals...so many, in fact, that many great ideas would be lost forever if we didn't capture them the moment they happen. The results of recording all of our rehearals is that we always have more potential material piling up faster than than we can develop each good one into a fully-developed song. The continuous recording is so effective that we now have over fifty songs in a relatively short period of time, and probably 20-25 ideas waiting for us to get to them.
Anyway, so there I am with my new camera phone....kid with a new toy, if you will...and I want to take a picture of the guys warming up and send it to a friend. So I climb up onto the bar (we have a bar and lounge area in our rehearsal space), then discover I have to lean back against the wall in order to get everyone into the frame.
And what do I do?
I lean back next to a lit candle on the wall. Everyone looks at me at the same time as says, quite calmly, "you're on fire." Now, 'scuse me for sounding egotistical but when they all said this I simply thought they were getting into their rock'n'roll attitude for the picture by telling their singer that he is pretty damn good (eg, "on fire").

Talk about a close call...
