Hi,
I apologize for asking this question, but I have met dead ends everywhere else and it has cost me some money. I live in virginia beach and my wife use to love listening to a scanner I bought her at radio shack several years ago. It has become useless over the years, she no longer can receive police, ems, fire,or rescue transmissions. Is there a scanner I can purchase for her at radio shack or somewhere else that will receive the police frequencies, ems, fire. etc.

Is there somewhere I can find what these frequencies are, I guess they have changed, maybe I'm just programming her scanner with the wrong freq's.

Thanks,
Chuck

Its no problem thats what were here for... Virginia Beach utilizes trunked radio, which would require a different type of scanner... u can however with a regular scanner listen to some of the trunked transmissions, they just change user per frequency often...Radio Reference. com has a nice selection of the VA beach freqs... What kind of scanner do u have?

It's an old Radio Shack Pro-46. I can't receive anything on it for her anymore. Last night there was a police helo hovering over our neighborhood for about 45 mins. and at least 6 police cars at the end of our street and I couldn't receive anything on the scanner. We found out this a.m. that two young kids were drag racing and one ended up in a neighbors house, car and all, he ran off into the woods behind our house. Would have been nice to know what was going on.

Thanks for the response Mike,

Chuck
