Let's talk about the burial of Eze EMC Anyankah, the Eze Oha 1 of Okpofe.
Our discussion should remain absolutely NON POLITICAL.
No finger pointing or name calling. Messages containing political inferences will be deleted.
I had personally anticipated to see Abigbo- Chukwuoma na Afoeze and Mmanwu- Oma na Imee.
I also hoped to see women's dance groups from the villages such as Agbachaa Ekurunwa- Ndom Okwu. I did not see any of those.
I thought Okpofe missed a chance to showcase our rich cultural heritage.
I will contribute more of my observations down the line.
Sir Inno, in as much as I agree with you that there shouldn't be any name calling, it is tough for anyone to say anything about the burial because of the "gag order" imposed. As you know, the burial was surrounded partly with local politics, religious, cultural, etc; and one can't say something without linking the other.
Please permit people to air their views whether politically, culturally or otherwise. Hearing from different sides do help one to deduct the truth.
Hey Paul, I agree with you one hundred and ten percent.
However, I'm sure you do understand the need for the "gag order".
I believe there are ways we can represent the truth without hurting people's feelings, yet capture the entire socio-cultural aspects of the Eze's burial. As the Town Hall moderator, it is my responsibility to ensure the maintainance of civil exchange of information and orderly discussion. I need to institute some ground rules for me to be effective.
I'm sure you remember what they call 'catch and release' in American fishing. That is when a group of guys, sometimes gals too, go on a fishing expedition just to socialize. They catch the fishes and release them. Only beer and other social drinks are abundantly condemned to death, while the fishes are let go.
Boy, that is real fun! You need to go to one if you haven't already.
Anyway, as I agree with you in the need to capture all aspects of the funeral, consider the "gag order" partially lifted.
ABSOLUTELY NO NAME CALLING. Let's catch and release, but let's have fun.
Alright Paul, take it away!!
