MY STAND WAS VERY CLEAR ON EZES BURIAL November 14 2005, 8:41 AM
Dear Brother Paul,
For some reasons I cannot understand I did not see your response. I was just loging in to see if there is any current issue concerning our wonderful town and here it is your response.
I do not know if the what happened during and after Ezes burial has been taken by event, I HOPE NOT BECAUSE TRADITION DEMANDS THAT WE MOURN OUR DEAR EZE TILL ONE YEAR. Paul, you know Eze was a father to me, at a very young age he recognized me with a Merit Certificate and never failed to petition the government for my release while I was in detention. Ofcourse, my position was very clear - A BEFITING BURIAL and i did my very best with our brothers like, Cajy and the current Chairman Lagos Branch to ensure that. In the village on the day of the burial proper, it was a carnival like ceremoney and at the end were all happy. AS A PROMINENT SON IN USA, WHY DID YOU PEOPLE NOT SEND YOUR CONTRIBUTION.
Yes, we gave you guys invitation during the lunching of the proposed Town Hall but for reasons uptil now we cannot understand we did not get your support. Again there are alot of outstanding issues which ODU lagos branch is suppose to sparehead to final resolution but we will get there soonest. We are very mindful of our elders and as such, those controversial issues should be handled with extreme care so that at the end of the day we still remain brothers and respectful younger brothers. We cannot do without you guys support over there, so we plead for your kind co-operation and understanding always on such matters we fell short of your expectation.
Love you all. Pee i trust you are doing well, regars ok .
Our Eze was given a befitting burial despite some flaws. He does not deserve less. We should learn from our mistakes and improve for the furture.
Just some Clarifications, I am relaiably informed that our Folks in USA brought a total of N400,000. N300,000 was given direct to Eze's family while N100,000 was paid to the burial committee's designated account.
Also on our "OIU house" fund raising in Lagos, I have the assurance of many of our compatriots - Paul, Peter, Ben, Inno, Cletus and a whole others that they are already putting something in place for us to be forwarded soon.
Eze Oha 1's Burial - I must be missing something!!! November 22 2005, 12:36 AM
Prince Jude,
I just decided to cut and paste this comment of yours and demand that you go through it and confirm that you still stand by it.
"Ofcourse, my position was very clear - A BEFITING BURIAL and i did my very best with our brothers like, Cajy and the current Chairman Lagos Branch to ensure that. In the village on the day of the burial proper, it was a carnival like ceremoney and at the end were all happy. AS A PROMINENT SON IN USA, WHY DID YOU PEOPLE NOT SEND YOUR CONTRIBUTION".
Well, if you still stand by your comments as it relates to Eze Oha 1's burial, then you might be misinformed. Let me ask you one question: did you visit home during the burial? If not, then you are just like me, however, I am better informed by our delegates. ODA sent 3 people home to represent us during the burial. In spite of all local politics, the delegates did what they had to do towards the burial and made Okpofe proud.
ODA is a big fan of Eze Oha 1 because he is a peaceful man. We did what we believe is right for the Eze's family and for Okpofe in General. If it is possible, check with Cajy black, our future Eze to debrief you on what really happened.
Concerning the Lagos OIU launching, it should be clear to you that ODA and OIU Lagos branch are not in good terms. You guys don't regard us as brothers and have never welcomed any of our ideas no matter how good it might be or bad it is. Why all of a sudden, you believe ODA will support you guys during your launching? He laughs....
Anyway, we have spoken at length with Cajy on this and we are working towards normalizing bilateral relations where possible with you guys. Okpofe is not owned by anyone and we have to live as brothers. As you know, we will not do anything that will jeopardize you guys interest but it is about time you guys start helping us and Okpofe in general. Anyway, I don't think it is too late for us to support the launching. Our support will be coming and it will take time to come.
Please note: we are watching you guys especially on the up coming OIU Home and Abroad election in December. No ODA person will be coming home, therefore, the ball is at OIU Lagos branch to help conduct a free and fair election. Assuming the election will hold, what ODA is praying for is for good executive that will be open and fair in all their dealings. An executive that will come up with projects and annual budget that will help move Okpofe forward. A clear and concise means on how each branch will support the budget and help fund the projects.
I am not in anyway condemning the present or past executives, rather to say the new ones should be dynamic and agressive. The new executive should try and bring all the braches together and not to ignore any branch. They should see ODA as their sons like other branches and not as rebels. We want to help, but people back home hate our guts, they hate our ideas, and they can't stand our good and honest attitude. We are not arrogant as some people claim but want plain justice, period. Obviously, this 2006 should be the year for CHANGE from all branches.
Let me stop for now till next time. Again, my write-ups should not be misconstrude or misunderstood by anyone. I have no ill feelings about anyone and do not have control over peoples' judgment. I just have to air my opinions and it should be seen as such. I hope the readers of this website should see it that way. I am just having fun....
Elder Inno is trying to control our forum before people start going crazy thinking that someone is out there to get them. I love everyone... but I am not scared to say the truth. Do you know what? The truth must prevail anyway.
May the soul of Eze Oha 1 of Okpofe Rest in Perfect Peace Amen.
..... No name calling, use of abusive language, or anything like that.
Let's continue to communicate the plain truth and nothing but the truth. Educative, informative and all that good stuff.
I read your response and I guess it makes our great site an active one when once in a while we touch on such sensitive issues. Great!
In direct response to your question, I WAS IN THE VILLAGE, LIVE DURING EZES BURIAL. Inno, took me some snaps and since I believe he has read your response he should have corrected the impression you had. I THEN DEMAND AN APOLOGY FROM INNO.
Dee Eric Nwankwo, was our special guest during our launching in Lagos and thereafter our Elders deem it necessary to host him privately at CHIEF A EGWIMS HOME. I was invited plus other good guys from Okpofe. The main issue we sought for detailed information from Dee Eric in his capacity as OIU CHAIRMAN home and abroad was the ongoing massive arrest by the police of some criminals in the community. Thereafter his detailed information about the efforts of the police and the community to checkmate these bad guys; then some VITAL POINTS which touched on Eze's burial also came up.
Concerning the forthcoming election in December, honestly I must confess that there has never been a time, I influenced any position or appointment in Okpofe. I have always believed that the WHO WILL GET THE JOB DONE should be there for all of us in good faith and honesty. NOW TAKING THE BALL DIRECTLY TO YOUR COURT, DOES ODA-USA HAVE A CANDIDATE IN MIND, if you do not have anybody right now, please ODA should shop for one immediately and I WILL DO THE NEEDFUL TO MARKET HIM WITH ALL RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO ME keeping in view that if your candidate goes in MORE FUNDS WILL FLOW FROM ODA-USA FOR DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS in Okpofe.
Many years ago who would have thought that a time will come when our community will be read from many parts of the world, (GLORY TO GOD ALMIGHTY for his gift of our brother INNO) or even place GSM calls to our aged parents while in their farms. IT IS A SIGN OF GOOD THINGS AND WE SHALL ALL CONTINUE TO COMMIT OURSELVES TO WORKING TOGETHER TO UPLIFT OUR GREAT OKPOFE MORE THAN ANY OTHER COMMUNITY AROUND DESPITE DISAGREEMENT AND MISUNDERSTANDING ONCE IN A WHILE.
I REPEAT, I PRIDE WITH YOU GUYS ALL THE TIME.
Regards to all.

Please accept my apologies for not correcting Paul’s impression that you were not present at the Eze’s funeral. You were there LIVE!
I guess I was more focused on checking that Paul’s message contained only the facts, which it did. I missed responding to his question, and you are right to point out that I should have corrected the impression before you caught it.
