all the empires in the world, now the countries of which had enormous empires are now small countrys. why is that? for instance britain is small, so is Spain, so is japan, so is greece, and etc. just a question i thought i would ask.

1 Why did superpowers like the British Empire lose its global dominance,

or

2 Why were the most powerful empires in history developed by smaller countries.

no i meant why the big empires now still dont have any of the major land they took, and now are small countries, make any sense now? sorry if i cant clarify it any furthur

like for instance, Greece it had a huge empire at once and now it barely has any land, or Britian all it has is a island when at one point it owned 1/3 of the world, and etc.
