Can some mates give a short intro or links about the Greek influence in the Byzantine empire? I impression is that Greeks played a very big role in the East Roman Empire, right?

Greek influence played a huge role in Roman empire overall, not just the eastern part.

Greek and Roman religions were similar, and there was lots of trade and intermingling between Roman Empire and Greek states, and Egypt. There are influences on all these cultures...

You really dont need expert analysis to figure out the influences, if you compare various Egyptian, Greek and Roman Gov't and Military systems, you'll find out...

The Byzantine Empire was a land of massive cultural diffusion. Although naturally the Greeks played an important part, it was really more of a multicultural empire. For example, through a large part of its life, Hagia Sophia was referred to the Italian "Santa Sophia." But yes, Greek influence was tremendous (in the late 600s, the official language was declared Greek).

The Eastern Roman Empire was Greek. It kept Latin as the official language for a while after the western part of the Empire had fallen, but then naturally started using their own language.
