LOL. why would a holy book tell men they are aloud to marry 4 wives. what does that have to do with religion, why 4 instead of 3, and why should polygamy even be mentioned in a holy text.. and why would it tell women to hide their entire body and face so it wouldnt tempt men's hormones.. hmm, i wonder who wrote the koran.

to answer you, had quran not mentioned polygamy, it would have rmeained a culture that the men marry as many women as they want. Islam discouraged it, and put a limit on it.

Just because Islam mentions it, doesnt mean that it encourages it. It discourages such practices, but since these werepractices long before the arrival of Islam, islam couldnt ban them.

so the next best thing was done. Discourage it, and put a limit on it.
