The stick grenades can have longer throwing range and lower chance of accidents, because I think pineapples detonate between 4-5 seconds after the pin is removed, and sticks detonate about 10 seconds.

Definately the sticks.

Better range and apparantly according to my Australian Army, the most reliable grenade ever devised.

Problem with stick grenades is once you pulled the fuse that was it. You had to throw it. No safety. The American pineapple grenade and the British Mills bomb had a safety that didn;t release until you threw it. If you changed your mind about using it, you reinstalled the pin and no problem. Gave much more effective control.

Also, the fuse on the American grenade was silent. Fuse burning on stick grenade was very audible. Something to consider when preparing to toss it at an unaware enemy.

Well, the major advantage is throwing distance for the Stielgranate, though it is not as easy to carry and a bit bulky.

By the way, Bianco stated that pineapple grenades explode 4-5 seconds after the pin is pulled. This is not true. Pulling the ring/pin simply removes the safety. It does not ignite the fuse. When the grenade is thrown the handle is released and a spring trigger ignites the fuse. Then you have your 4-5 seconds.
