Yeah, that's an unbiased source. Taiwan's history is only 400 years, I mean not much happened before then. That is, before the white man discovered it much like Colombus did the Americas. The puny Chinese right off the coast didn't even know about it. Of course, the earliest recorded contact with the island during the Han dynasty over 2000 years ago was just the illusion from Chinese smoking too much opium.

Taiwan only declared independence with the full support of the Qing Dynasty to RESIST Japanese rule. It was by no means an act against the mainland, rather of loyalty to the mainland against Japan.
Taiwan was only ruled by Japan as a result of a war and unequal treaty against a weak China. It does not somehow mean Taiwan's status would not be challenged by a stronger China later in the future. ROFLMAO 'Taiwan given to Japan forever not just 99 years like Hong Kong' The author is an obvious boot licking jap worshiper who should either ship his arse to his true home (Japan) or be shot.
No japs here....

1624-1662. When the Dutch East Indies Company arrived, they found only the aborigine population on the island: there were no signs of any administrative structure of the Chinese Imperial Government
They are trying to claim that Western explorers "discovered" the island of Taiwan only 400 years ago, much like Columbus discovered the Americas. This despite the fact that the closests point to Taiwan is only a few dozen miles off China coast. This despite documents indicating that Han dynasty sent envoys to Taiwan and made contact over 2000 years ago. This despite the fact that there was significant Chinese presence when the Dutch pirates took over (Ming dynasty established outposts there for almost a century). This is what happens when the West writes East Asian history. Pretty soon they'll be claiming that Greeks are the father of Eastern civilization.
