Graves of Polish soldiers killed in 1940 by the Stalinist NKVD secret police have been discovered in Bykovnia , near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. They are remnants of a group of 3thousand 435 Poles, prisoners from the so called Western Ukraine, soldiers and police officers who were detained by the Soviets in Ukraine and who disappeared without a trace in 1940. Some 22 thousand Polish officers and soldiers were taken prisoner by the Red Army after the Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland in 1939 following the Molotov Ribbentrop non aggression pact between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany signed that year. Thousands of the Poles were shot in Katyn forest, others in Kharkiv. The Soviet Union blamed Nazi Germany for the massacre. In 1990 the then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachov acknowledged Soviet responsibility, but Russia’s military prosecution closed the investigation in 2004 refusing to acknowledge it as either a war crime or a crime against humanity. The Polish side had been refused the files relating to the case.

Sad things like this wont even be aknowledged , any war crime no matter how big deserves a mention, to the victims and perpetraitors.

NKVD killed lots of Russians too. At Stalingrad, NKVD troops were used to gun down any Red Army dude who retreated or even complained about not having a rifle.

What are you talking about? The Soviets blamed the Germans, the average Pole knew it was a lie. The Government took orders from Moscow, that's why officially it was never investigated or asked about the truth or realise of files from the Soviets. And no I'm not surprised since I knew about this for years (about Soviet killings), however, I am surprised to see you have a thing (be it agenda or what have you) against Poles and World War 2 atrocities against us. Regardless your feelings about the holocaust, you can not denie German hate for Poles, labour camps, deportation and overall lack of respect of civilians and people, be they Polish Jews or Polish Christians.
