They have invaded, Ireland, africa (a very big pieace of it), indian, austalia, america, south america, france, wales, scotland, pakistan, spain, and many islands......

Many of the above nations have faught for CENTUARYS for their freedom, especially ireland.

In ireland, they tied living people to their trucks while driving around so they wouldent come underfire, they would fill pot holes with innocent died irish people they killed for fun, they massacred villages, burnt the center of cork city, shot men as they were straped in chairs unable to stand, cut the limbs of many people from many places, enslaved many people, muderd civil rights protestors, fired upon football spectators, raped women, beat old men to death, in one case, thery shot a father in his bed as he was reading his children a story, and then sledgehammerd the two little girls too death, they shot children dead, they shot children dead with rubber bullets (rubber bullets are now banned), they banned our languge, hung us for wearing the colour green, hung us for playing the harp our flute, hung us for singing irish songs, dissposed our famillys from the land, took our food and watched us starve throught a famine, made laws that made irish people almost immposible to surive in their own country, conscripted irish men, tried to sabotage our religion........ this has been going on for 800 years.

Absolutely no doubt about it, the British.
They just got away without paying any damages or apologizing for their brutal rape pillaging and the treatment of the native people in the colonies.

Wow wow, the Natives were slaughtering themselves at a pretty good rate, especially in South America. We should also remember that the Indians build Temples with whole streams of blood of dead enemies running through. They were quite busy at enslaving and waging War among themselves.

Given the mentality of the time, the Brits, Spaniards and Dutch did their duty as christians

Gee, I wonder, did an Irishman write this.

Honestly but this is utterly pointless. Read the exploits of your Scotti ancestors in Scotland, Wales, Cornwall etc. Same ****, different name. All empires, all nations have done this sort of thing. Sure we should be ashamed. But to present a single country just shows your bias. You hate Brits hence British Empire=the worst. You have no context.

Incidentally but the Holocaust is rather a better example of destroying and demonising a culture.

Don't insult decent Irishman. Who wrote this is a obviously biased, incoherently anti-British, ill-informed republican orientated Irishman.

There's an inner thing in every man,
Do you know this thing my friend?
> It has withstood the blows of a million years,
And will do so to the end.

It was born when time did not exist,
And it grew up out of life,
It cut down evil's strangling vines,
Like a slashing searing knife.

It lit fires when fires were not,
And burnt the mind of man,
Tempering leandened hearts to steel,
From the time that time began.

It wept by the waters of Babylon,
And when all men were a loss,
It screeched in writhing agony,
And it hung bleeding from the Cross.

It died in Rome by lion and sword,
And in defiant cruel array,
When the deathly word was 'Spartacus'
Along the Appian Way.

It marched with Wat the Tyler's poor,
And frightened lord and king,
And it was emblazoned in their deathly stare,
As e'er a living thing.

It smiled in holy innocence,
Before conquistadors of old,
So meek and tame and unaware,
Of the deathly power of gold.

It burst forth through pitiful Paris streets,
And stormed the old Bastille,
And marched upon the serpent's head,
And crushed it 'neath its heel.

It died in blood on Buffalo Plains,
And starved by moons of rain,
Its heart was buried at Wounded Knee,
But it will come to rise again.

It screamed aloud by Kerry lakes,
As it was knelt upon the ground,
And it died in great defiance,
As they coldly shot it down.

It is found in every light of hope,
It knows no bounds nor space
It has risen in red and black and white,
It is there in every race.

It lies in the hearts of heroes dead,
It screams in tyrants' eyes,
It has reached the peak of mountains high,
It comes searing 'cross the skies.

It lights the dark of this prison cell,
It thunders forth its might,
It is 'the undauntable thought', my friend,
The thought that says 'I'm right!'

Bully for you.

My point was that to my knowledge by far the majority of Irish people in the Irish Republic speak and are literate in English to a level similar to the level in the UK itself. I was simply curious why you seem to be some what less than literate compared to most of your countrymen and woman.

Yet more bollocks. However even if that were the case what does that have to do with your inability to speak or write it even close to properly.

The Easter uprising destroyed the home rule movment and any lasting pease in Irland. If the events of Spring 1916 did not happen you would be in a free united Irland right now. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Pathankot Strike
8 F-86Fs of No 19 Squadron led by Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider struck Pathankot airfield. With carefully positioned dives and selecting each individual aircraft in their protected pens for their strafing attacks, the strike elements completed a textbook operation against Pathankot. Wing Commander M G Tawab, flying one of the two Sabres as tied escorts overhead, counted 14 wrecks burning on the airfield. Among the aircraft destroyed on the ground were nearly all of the IAFs Soviet-supplied Mig-21s till then received, none of which were seen again during the War.

Whenever a nation has issues they blame either Great Britain or the USA. Get a life people. Great Britain started off as a tiny nation and then ruled the world. YOu don't hear the Brits complaining about the invasions by the geramanic peoples, or the vikings or the French.

Niether do you hear America demanding the rest of the world owe them for their role in the cold war.

""Didn't all that British actions mentioned in this thread happen under different British regimes""

No because most of them never happened.

Alot of unpleasant things happened during the troubles in Ireland, and later NI, by both sides but most of the things claimed are just republican propaganda, most of the claims made at the start of this thread come under that heading.

"Incidentally but the Holocaust is rather a better example of destroying and demonising a culture."

In recent history only, the Romans and Carthage...now that's an example of destruction and demonization! Salting the ground after razing the city...brilliant political theatre demonstrating how much more you hate the "enemy" and therefore anyone less strident is obviously unpatriotic! Sound familiar?

I've read enough of the history of human conflict to see this was merely a "rinse and repeat" of an ancient tactic that has been used repeatedly throughout history, the Nazi's use of modern technology and organizational methods deserves a paragraph or two though. happy.gif

You are right Yoad, I do agree!!... Congo... Wow... Unimaginable.

Then I'd go for Brits as the most brutal ''system'', since it is based on putting brother against brother. Look, any place that used to be a colony of Brits is still at war or in the brink of it:

India-Pakistan-Bangladesh, Cyprus, Israel-Palestine and so on... They make a lot money of out of it also... sad.gif
