The Three Hundred and Thirty Five Years War (1651-1986) was between the Netherlands and the Isles of Scilly (off the south-west coast of the United Kingdom). It is said to have been extended by the lack of a peace treaty for 335 years. It was waged without a single shot fired, making it one of the world's longest wars and the war with the fewest casualties. Despite the uncertain validity of the declaration of war, peace was finally declared in 1986.

The Anglo-Zanzibar was fought between the United Kingdom and Zanzibar on August 27, 1896. With a duration of only 45 minutes, it holds the record of being the shortest war.

i know the longer siege in history

"During the 17th century, Venice was pushed from Crete by the Ottoman Empire, with most of the island lost after the siege of Candia (1648–1669) ; this made up possibly the longest recorded siege in history."

""Maniots, known for their martial qualities, were the first to join the Greek liberation movement. The society called the Filiki Eteria ("Company of Friends") sent their representatives Perrevos and Chrisospathis to organize the Maniots. On March 17, 1821, 12,000 Maniots gathered in the church of Taxiarchs (Archangels) of Areopoli and declared war against the Ottoman Empire. The flag of the revolution was white with a blue cross in the center. On top of the flag there was a sign, "Victory or death". The Maniots were responsible for writing "Victory" and not "Freedom" on their banner since Mani was always free. On the bottom of the flag lied an ancient inscription, "With the shield or on the shield."

For the longest war/animosity/hostility, we only have to look at the Greek Turkish conflict. The names have changed, but the hatred, animosity, remains the same.

Since 1071AD Greeks have been fighting the Turks either in direct hot wars or the current cold war situation. I don't know of any other nations which have been enemies (real enemies) for such a long time. Back then it was Byzantines vs. Ottomans, today it is Greece vs. Turkey.

2008AD - 1071AD = 937 years of fighting and animosity

OWNING Scum since 1821!

Shortest war in history is any war with KLA Albanians, since they turn and run away every time.

That's what the Trojans, Lydians, Carians, Phrygians, and Persians were saying too...keep thinking that though. We will be back in Ionia one day.
