I just got back from a 3 day course in "Stone Restoration and Maintenance" and as a newbie let me tell you there are no "general" answers to your questions. With stone there are too many variables, especially since it seems the people who actually spec or fabricate/reccomend the products many times do not even know or do the right thing. I still have a LOT to learn, but have a much better idea on the problems and potential solutions. Go to MBStone.com for info on the course. As Al Spaet implied on his thread that is highlighted on the previous response to this question, so to did the person teaching this course-if you are in carpet cleaning, as there were some people in the class from that arena if you get into stone restoration keep the 2 businesses separate so that people don't perceive you as the $29.95 marble restoration guy and you can get the money you deserve for the skill involved and restoring marble floors is a "skill".
