Porous Plus

Does anybody have an easy way to get Porous Plus off of a surface especially marbles?

We did a bathroom today (honed travertine)it was pretty clean to begin with. Klenzall, rinse with water, Sealed it. After it dried flakes were coming off of the travertine, we scraped it off with a razor. Customer used Porous Plus last time they sealed. It has to be the problem. This is the third time this has happened when someone used Porous Plus.

Thanks, Josi

Have you gone over with a stripper beforehand? I know even with Klenzall we have needed a stripper before to clean off waxes/coatings/sealers.

Stripper

I really didn't think the Porous Plus would be a problem like this. I guess there's a lesson learned.

Like Pete says...."stripper first". Should we just start all jobs with stripper? no matter what it is?

Thanks,
Josi

I have found its much nicer to have a set process in place. Because, if you go through and use say restore on ceramic floor and there was a sealant or wax, you will find your self having to go back over with a stripper THEN go back with your restore. Its wierd but most of the strong acid cleaners will not do squat to a sealer or wax but will do everything once in contact with the tile/grout. I would work it into your process on every job, that way there are fewer headaches and present it in your estimate because it makes it sound like your are doing alot of process'.

Porous Plus can be difficult to remove if the excess has been allowed to dry on the surface. A solvent based stripper may be needed to strip off the residue, but I'd start with some Porous Plus first... it may re emulsify the original sealer and aid in removal. You may need to use something as strong as Methylene chloride... nasty stuff... not only will it remove sealers and coatings, but also the finish off cabinets and baseboards.... and can cause liver damage...

Mira Strip

If it is Porous Plus (call Miracle for their suggestions, BTW), then PP is what is used to dissolve excess, as Karen noted.

But Mira Strip is use when all else fails! Also made by Miracle, it is a nasty stripper for only the nastiest jobs. Get out the respirator!

I have removed PP using Mira Strip. It is nasty but it does come off. You may not be able to remove all of it and may be wise to reapply PP instead of any other product.
