the greatest of all time?!! I don't know! Certainly one of the greatest and of course the most successful F1 driver of all time.
watching him drive and win all these years was a bitter sweet experience for me since he kept me on the edge of my seat with his skillful and aggressive yet calculated driving. but although i was a big admirer of his I was never a hardcore fan and believe that at his best he was as good as let's say Mika Hakkinen at his best.
what was amazing about his glittering career was his consistency and the fact that he always surrounded himself with the right people at the right time and managed to get the most out of his talent throughout his whole career. unlike Mika Hakkinen, Villneave and now Raikkonen that managed to waste a big part of their career in some uncompetitive teams while Michael was obviously winning.

it was a joy to watch him drive and F1 will miss him no matter how you look at it.
too bad the other idiot Schumacher is still on the grid!!

and who would've thought that I'd become a Ferrari fan?! Kimi to take it all in 2007!

In terms of driving skills he wasn't to the same level as the late Ayrton Senna (rip).

Well, he has his fair share of criticism and for all his sometimes questionable tactics, he was the best driver and the best analyst and therefore made sure his team made the perfect car for him.

His many critics, notably Villeneuve and Monatoya, are either jealous (Villeneuve) or just silly (Montoya, who was even more "unfair" than Schumi).

With regards to Senna, Schumacher won the first two races in the season Senna died. I agree, Senna was one of the best, but Schumacher is in a league of his own. The stats speak for themselves...

A man who won 91 races and 7 championships, who took Ferrari out of a 25 year crisis etc. etc.

he was undoubtfully the best driver!! it was so fukking sad that he had a damage in his race in japan while leading.

it would have been great if he had got his 8th title. unfortunately it didn´t work.

nontheless the best driver and my favourite one!

Thats whats so sad, Senna died way to young he could have accomplished so much more. While Schumacher went through his whole career Senna did not. I like Schumacher though and maybe I'm just being biased.

Certainly, I like Senna too and he was an amazing driver and character. Too bad that we were robbed of years of amazing duels between those two men!

Btw. as a Brazilian your can be in good mood, Massa seems class and I am not all that certain that Räikkönen will be the clear nr. 1 at Ferrari next year.

Sadly Germany will see a slump in F1 interest after the retirement of Schumi. We still have 3 drivers (Ralf, Heidfeld and Rosberg) and 2 teams (Mercedes and BMW), but it is impossible to replace Schumacher adequately.

What has happened to Ralf and BMW? A couple of years ago they were the main contenders against the domination of Ferrari. Regarding Massa yeah he did a good race, first Brazilian to win at home in 13 years. But I'm disappointed at Barrichello he looks to ordinary and should be ahead of someone like Button.

Ralf moved to Toyota and well they simply are not that good. They have a lot of money, but they lack the experience and the top crew of Ferrari and Benetton. Mercedes will be a great contender next season with Alonso. BMW could, after some dire years, compete again next season. With Heidfeld and Kubica they have two young and hungry drivers.

It will be interesting to see who will be at the top next season since Alonso will have to settle in a new team so it might be harder for him.

True that, I still have my money on another Alonso victory.

Well, I seriously think, Massa could have a shot. I would like Heidfeld to win some races or make some first 3 finishes. Though yes, if Mercedes can give him a reliable engine, Alonso is the favourite. This year they certainly had the speed, but were horribly unreliable.

I dunno about Massa, a big step in levels of pressure, I'd expect him to finish 2nd to be quiet honest.

Shumy is probably the most disliked Driver by his Collegues and some claim the most dishonest as well. Nobody will be shedding any tears over him.

Senna was in a different league all together. senna and his teammate alan prost shared 7 championships amongst each other, 5 of which as teammates, whereas MS's teammates have won less that 10 GP's combined. to win an F1 championship one has to first beat his own teammate which is something MS never had to do.

"Shumy is probably the most disliked Driver by his Collegues and some claim the most dishonest as well. Nobody will be shedding any tears over him."

And still he was the president of the driver's union...

Anyway, his biggest critics are jealous and whiny guys like Villeneuve and Montoya who don't come anywhere near him. While true champions like Alonso or Hakkinen acknowledge him as a legend.

While he was very competitive during the race - even sometmes unfair. Off the track he is very low key and down to earth. He is also very generous and uses his money to aid people. He alone donated 10 million after the Tsunami for example.

Btw. all of you who revere Senna, he also admitted that he deliberately took out Prost to win. I don't want to diss him, but I want to show that a driver on such a level always has to fight with everything he has got. Senna and Schumacher understood this.

Prost was not best pleased with the tactics used by Senna, and also vice-versa.

Latter I think that Senna was rather crest-fallen, shamed, at having used such tactics; Mostly Prost, was just getting his own back.

Unfortunately, Senna was the first driver to be killed by the pace car, after an incident the safety car slowed the pack to a crawl, the tyres cooled and compressed, reducing the ride-height, after the re-start entering the a fast left hand corner, on the re-start lap, the car lost traction (the belly was on the ground) and the car and Senna just hit the solid wall, no protection. The wheel caused the most damage.

During the last race of the 2006 season, Schumacher having a puncture early in the race, was given free passage by many other drivers, giving him a “fair go” at the title.

It was not to be, but it was one of the few exciting F1 races of the last few years.

Messa, won, a well driven race. Button, outscoring everyone in the last few races, now knows that he can win; next season, we shall see.

My problem is that at times Schumacher and Ferrari made F1 boring.

We need a little time to make an assessment and come to a decision, on who is the greatest.

Hold the phone! What about Jack Nickalous? He won some 18 majors in his career while Tiger only 9 or 10. To early to tell imho.
