Australia unwelcome

An Arabic-led push is underway to remove Australia from the Asian Football Confederation before the 2010 World Cup, amid fears it will 'kill Asian soccer'.
Speaking at the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, the president of the West Asian Games committee said it was the biggest mistake made in Asian football.
"What are we going to benefit from Australia's soccer team when it plays a game with Asia? Is it the experience?" Sheik Talal al-Fahd Al Sabah told a press conference.
"We might play with them once every four years, not more."
Australia joined the AFC in January after quitting the Oceania Football Confederation in a bid to benefit from wider exposure and tougher matches in the Asian league. The move will also give Australia a chance at direct qualification for World Cups, rather than is previously more circuitous route by having to play the fifth-ranked South American team to qualify.
Australia reached the second round of the World Cup before losing on a last-minute penalty kick to eventual champion Italy.
Sheik Talal predicted there would be no problem removing Australia from the AFC, and said he was against Australia joining the Asian continent in all sport.
"It is natural to be able to change the decision. A general assembly can annul it the way it approved it," he said.
"There are general assemblies that can ask them to leave the way they brought them in."
"I hope this happens before the World Cup qualifications."
Earlier, Sheik Talal's brother, Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah, president of the Olympic Council of Asia, said Australia's inclusion in the AFC was a bad precedent and should not be extended to Olympic sports.
"If Australia will come to Asia, we are killing about 16 other nations - New Zealand, all those other small countries - will not find a good environment for the development of their sport," Sheik Ahmad said.
Australia is among 16 nations that will take part in the Asian Cup finals in July 2007, while Adelaide United and Sydney FC will play in the Asian Champions League.

These sad Arab states can go eat my left nut. Now because Australia changes the scope of the Asian Cup teams (bringing in one more GOOD team), these Arabs bitch because they will get their asses kicked every four years.
PS: Notice he doesn't bring ONE good arugemnt other then we bring nothing to the Asian Confederation... Except for millions of dollars, a good team and a jersey that doesn't have our name on the front of it...
Success is commemorated; Failure merely remembered.
