Iron Mike Zambidis defeated Kozo Takeda today in Tokyo at the K-1 World Max Elite Showcase. He won by a unanimous 3-0 decision.
At yesterday's press conference Zambidis, 26, said that he believed the K1 was the Olympics of kickboxing, and was looking forward to competing at the highest level tonight. He did just that, in what was reportedly an almost perfect fight for Zambidis, who improved his overall record to 50 wins in 59 matches, 38 by knockout.
Reports indicate Zambidis attacked very aggressively while also defending well, dominating his opponent.
This was Zambidis' first fight since last September, where he also won by a unanimous decision at a K1 in Japan. Since then he has trained at kickboxing legend Ramon Dekkers' gym in Holland and recently returned to his former trainer Giorgos Mallios.
Zambidis was born in Greece but lives in Australia.
