Only three confirmed.... Chaos ain't one of them. They are saying it could be Tyranids due to the ending with the red sky, which indicates a Tyranid invasion, but I have a feeling it is Chaos.

These types of games are **** compared to battlefield2, medieval total war 2, counter strike, etc

Notice the end of the trailer, the clouds are shaping up into an 8 point star... to me, that's Chaos. Plus the game has to pick up from where the original DoW had ended.
(geek mode activate!!!)
The red ominous "clouds" at the end may look like a Warp Storm, signifying Chaos invasion but then Warp Storms aren't never that close to a planet. You can tell since the "clouds" are in front of the moon and probably in the planet's atmosphere. It also resemble claws so it can actually be a hint of a Tyranid spore invasion.
I'm on the view that the original four will be the case... it would be really strange if it wasn't... I'm almost certain they'll get rid of SoB (cause they are ****) and add in Tyranids, Dark Eldar, IG and Tau in the expansions.

I don't really like chaos, the tao and the imperial guys are the best.
And anyway, i don't get these type of games, why can't you build unlimited amount of men, there's always a limit which is sad!

This is a tactics game, you don't get unlimited men cause in real wars you don't either. You have to be savvy and know how to hit the enemy, when and how to counter.
If you like massive armies play Supreme Commander, you basically get unlimited men, and the maps are huge. That's a real RTS, while this game is more a RTT (Real Time Tactics).
And SoB are Sisters of Battle. Basically Space Marines but chicks that use faith to help them win. They are lame cause they aren't balanced enough.

Well that could be the case but it could just as likely be a warp storm and as pointed out the cloud's form a sort of 8 point wheel of Chaos.
But I like to think of it in terms of, without the original 4, what would the game be like? Chaos is just such a integral part, but I can see a story evolving with Tyranids and Orks caught in epic battle.
The problem I still see is that the Space Marines seem so weak compared to table top versions. There's meant to be only 10,000-30,000 as a total within the galaxy and they aren't to die in such numbers, how the hell will they replenish them haha? Since one Chapters has 1,000 on average, the Blood ravens lost a pretty number just there.
You read about how one equals ten IG, then they go off and die with a single headshot.

I read a PC Gamer article mentioning that squad leaders will have unique face sculpts and voice acting from one unit to the other; it seems that they are trying to get you to hold on to your units as much as possible with experience upgrades and the such. According to the article it's not a case of "if they die, we'll get more". There was no real mention of squad replenishment... well, not anything I'd read.
Yeah that is true. ANd on the trailer fights, the Orks always seem to lose a hell of a lot while the space marines go on a rampage. I heard they are also giving them different voices between squad's and the whole RPG style wargear enhancement where you place it into their collective storage, such as a plasma rifle or heavy bolter.
From the looks of it, it also seems they are limiting the 'special' weapons like Heavy Bolters to just a few, as they are more dangerous then before. Wouldn't mind retro-fitting a few of those on a whole squad :P

Really? Didn't know it was a million... but still the movie just took a massive chunk from the Blood Raven's lol
I also remember reading that some Chapters (like Black Templars) have over a thousand, up around 4,000.
But my point still stands, the Marines get a tad owned for being super soldiers worth 10 regular men... Unless ten regular men in this game die for every marine lol

its not many when you think the Guard number in there Trilions and just how big the Imperial war machine is when you throw in the Legio Titanicus and the Imperial Navy
in game terms though your right the Marines are in no way shape or form as Uber as they should be. I guess they wanted to try and even it out as much as possible, if they were as god as there suposed to be you would get a couple of squads and one for two land raiders I prefer being able to produce a bigger army its more fun that way

That's why it's a PC game, not faithful to the TT version.
If you go on about Space Marines dying en masse, then its even worse for the Chaos, since there are really only about (actually) 10k of them for the entire galaxy, the rest having passed on since the Horus Heresy due to battle, old age, chaos warlords killing unsuccesful underlings, sacrifices, etc.
PS: There are about 1,000,000 Space Marines. And they can actually induct new recruits - unlike Chaos.
Chaos is depicted all wrong in the game. If it's 1 SM for 10 IG, its 1 Chaos for 10 SM, they're supposed to be lethal killers, as tough as SM but with the benefit of Chaos powers and thousands of years of battle experience. Typically it should be something like a small warband of chaos marines pulling the strings behind thousands of crazed cultists.
But then Relic can't do this in the PC games - it would be so much cooler to send in your assault marines to go hand-to-hand against a horde of Khorne Bezerkers than wiping the floor with a bunch of weak-assed cultist with little abilities.
Additionally, there are probably even fewer eldar and (even fewer!) Dark Eldar in the W2k universe, basically the only race that can die en-masse like in the PC game and still stay true to the TT depictions are Orks and Tyrannids. And IG, of course.
I guess they wanted to try and even it out as much as possible, if they were as god as there suposed to be you would get a couple of squads and one for two land raiders I prefer being able to produce a bigger army its more fun that way.
Yep, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there, mate.
It's been ages since I last played the TT version, but if memory serves, in the TT, Land Raiders are kinda rare except for in mega-point battles. THe game would be lowly rated by everyone except purist if SM was only able to build a few squads and rhinos.......
Actually Chaos can... well the Alpha Legion can anyway there the covert ops masters of the Chaos Marines they abduct likely recruits to other Chapters. Plant post hypnotic suggestions in them, wait for the training to be over and when they become scouts a "activate" them at which point they run off and join the Legion.
Plus there are always the odd chapter turning to Chaos, the Astral Claws for example fled into the Maelstrom and became the Red Corsairs
They should also nerf UD Nuke...c+n+e = gg level 5 AM.
Oh wait, wrong game..

Far more then that. Firstly Chaos marines don't die from old age, its canon they live immortal lives, gift of the Gods or a gift from the Eye of Terror/Warp. Secondly, only around half of the 9 Chapters worth died during the Heresy making it more then 10k, probably around 40-50k.
Also, Chapters do still get swayed (usually lesser chapters) boosting their numbers and traitors still exist in and around the other chapters.
Also yes I know that the Chaos are depicted wrong, since it make more sense to use 'The Lost and the Damned' with the limited Chaos 'Aspiring Champion' leaders or small unique 'Warbands' like the Obliterators and Possessed are in this game (but with CSM). Since one Obli could tear a new arsehole into an entire army, yeah you're right, but I just think SM rock a little more so I have been going on about them a little more.
But I think the Lost and the Damned would be just a complete copy of IG as they are usually heretical divisions, planets and armies. Kind like the argument for not using Daemonhunters and using SoB instead, since the hunters are basically the same as SM minus the whole speciality thing.
Thing about Eldar is, on the table top they aren't fielded as very small armies and in the canon they aren't as powerful as a single SM.
I just think in this game which is clearly more about tactics, they could try and introduce a more table top set of strengths, maybe limit how many marines in a sqaud, give 3-4x more orks for marines etc. It could work, you never know...

Well, I suppose DoW2 should feel a lil closer to home for purists since its effectvely a much much smaller and deeply tactical game than the first one where you get to control a very limited SM detachment and quite possibly(or rather obviousl) will be asked to do outrageous things...like saving a whole planet.
I just wonder how the multiplayer component will be like since they haven't been saying anything at all in that regard...other than you can actually play co-op through the campaign. Which translates into pure win/flawless victory. What RTS games allow you to play co-op in its main campaign?
Regarding the clouds, I still think its a Tyranid spore invasion coz if it's simply is another Chaos Warp Storm, its just an anti-climax for everyone who ever tried DoW 1, where Chaos was already the main elusive bad guys in the original campaign.
Unless it is a revamped Chaos team, ie totally different.

I think this looks sick. But I'm kind of disappointed that the original four aren't in the game... I would have loved to see a revamped Chaos.
But the idea of throwing Orks and Nids at each other is very enticing!
