The Wii is a home video game console released by Nintendo. As a seventh-generation console, the Wii primarily competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of both. As of December 31, 2008 the Wii leads the generation over the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in worldwide sales.

A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions. Another distinctive feature of the console is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.

Dimensions
The Wii is Nintendo's smallest home console to date; it measures 44 mm (1.73 in) wide, 157 mm (6.18 in) tall and 215.4 mm (8.48 in) deep in its vertical orientation, the near-equivalent of three DVD cases stacked together. The included stand measures 55.4 mm (2.18 in) wide, 44 mm (1.73 in) tall and 225.6 mm (8.88 in) deep. The system weighs 1.2 kg (2.7 lb),which makes it the lightest of the three major seventh generation consoles. The console can be placed either horizontally or vertically.

Detailed Technical Specifications
CPU: PowerPC-based "Broadway" processor, made with a 90 nm SOI CMOS process, reportedly clocked at 729 MHz
GPU: ATI "Hollywood" GPU made with a 90 nm CMOS process, reportedly clocked at 243 MHz
88 MB main memory (24 MB "internal" 1T-SRAM integrated into graphics package, 64 MB "external" GDDR3 SDRAM)
3 MB embedded GPU texture memory and framebuffer.

I have a Wii... it's not THAT great. Unless you sit in front of your TV in the exact same place, all the time, you will constantly need to re-calibrate the Wiimote.

Check out Project Natale coming for the 360. Now THAT will be changing the gaming world.

Screw waving a stick remote around.. your whole body will be the remote.

Well I am honestly not buying wii because of the wiimote tbh that is actually a negative thing for me, being a classic console gamer I just dont see the need for anything other than a gamepad

I am buying wii because of 2 games.

1. Monter hunter 3, monster hunter freedom 2 on psp was one of the best games I ever played and actually made me enjoy gaming again.

2. Smash bros! one of the best multiplayer games ever made.

choss

have you played on the Wii before ??

if you have then go ahead and buy it .if you havent then i suggest you barrow or hire it from some were first to see how it is . You dont want to buy it and then not play it

im saying this becouse the graphics on the wii are kiddish at best most of the games are similar .graphics wise

PS Your better off buying a 360 than a wii

you have a point I have not even held a wii gamepad, grafics are not such a problem I mean the console game I even to this day play most is on ps1... so It isnt everything I could let it slide however the more I look at the wii gamepad the more I have doubts over how comfortable it will be.

I would rather buy a ps3 or xbox360 but like I Said I want to buy wii for this one game I am not such a hardcore console gamer but occasionally I run across a game that will hold my interest for long period. This game wont be released on either ps3 or xbox so I am out of luck.

the only game I that i really enjoy playing on ps3 is Pro evolution soccer which I can play on my psp and dont really need to buy a new console for.

Heh, I have a buddy who is a Zelda freak and bought his Wii for that game alone.

I was at his place on night with some friends to watch a boxing match. Before the match, he put in Zelda to show us.. he was standing there, swinging like a mad man, working himself into a sweaty frenzy...

I asked to try, and sat there simply jerking my wrist to do the sword swing... then looked over at him sitting there sweating, out of breath...

Epic lulz...

For a minute I thought they were gonna go onto a whole new level of gay which they already reached on its realise date.

Bravo Wii.

Siege of Tobruk - One German POW said: "I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland, France, and Belgium, once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted that they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry still keep fighting." Rommel wrote of seeing "a batch of some fifty or sixty Australian prisoners ... marched off close behind usimmensely big and powerful men, who without question represented an elite formation of the British Empire, a fact that was also evident in battle."
