Empire total war's grand campaigns end at the Napoloenic wars, so this is a good sequel. Also, if you're looking for civ building games, you should try rise of nations, or any Civilization games.

Called Civilization.

Siege of Tobruk - One German POW said: "I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland, France, and Belgium, once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted that they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry still keep fighting." Rommel wrote of seeing "a batch of some fifty or sixty Australian prisoners ... marched off close behind usimmensely big and powerful men, who without question represented an elite formation of the British Empire, a fact that was also evident in battle."

Tezel,

Check out the 'Civilization' franchise or 'Galactic Civilization'.

There have been numerous games which do what you want.

Can anyone tell me if the game AI has improved a lot and bugs have been largely fixed since the patches? I heard the game was pre buggy at the start and I want to know if it is worth my money at the moment.

What game are you talking about? Empire or Civilisation?

Major bugs fixed, AI is more or less the same. It acts less stupid for the most part.

Siege of Tobruk - One German POW said: "I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland, France, and Belgium, once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted that they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry still keep fighting." Get CivIII complete, it has the Turks, and it's better than any of the ones that came after anyways. I don't know what you mean by the battles being "basic" though.

The battles aren't real time. It's basically a case of one unit moving into a square of another unti and the outcome is autmatically decided. So yeah, the 'combat' is limited in that sense, but everything else that you seek, macro and elements of micro management of a nation are in Civ.

You also might want to look at something called Civilization: Call to Power, not to be confused with the Civilization by Sid Meier series. This allows you to advance a little bit beyond current levels of technology which i think you, Tezel, would find more appealing.

If you want space, get Galactic Civilizations. I think you'll also like the idea of being able to build your own death stars ;)

it's an old game mate, few years now. You don't need a beast to run it.

Hearts of Iron II (soon III) and Victoria by Paradox might be of interest to you as well. They are way more micro intensive in terms of taking care of each individual province with tax rates, production, happiness, planning, general management etc. As well as being diplomacy heavy and the wars can become epic (such as fighting in the America's in a colonial war while fighting a massive two front war).

It is has a very steep learning curve. But I heard once you know what you are doing, it is by far the most realistic game out there in an all encompassing strategy game.

Siege of Tobruk - One German POW said: "I cannot understand you Australians. In Poland, France, and Belgium, once the tanks got through the soldiers took it for granted that they were beaten. But you are like demons. The tanks break through and your infantry still keep fighting." thanks again rcez, btw i have iron hearts 2, brilliant game but one downside for me, tbh im kind of lazy, when i purchase games i never do the tutorials i just play and learn, but in this case i actually completed the tutorial for hearts of iron 2 but couldnt understand the production section so when i started off as Turkey in the campaign mode i started constructing industries in every ****ing province and suddenly a 4 month job took 2 years, wtf?

But in terms of strategy i am good, i just dont really know how to build tanks, recruit, build, etc but tactical wise im brilliant, i always cut off an enemy territories logistics by attacking the appropriate location which will cut one city from the empire happy.gif

HoI2 was a good game, but I Stay FAR away from HoI3 for another year or so, supposedly it has redefined the concept of the "buggy release".
