The reason for this is that i at last destroyed the french, btw i got really pissed off when i sent an elite army to join the crusades and improve my relations untill i was excommunicated by the papacy losing my whole army. It pissed me off so much that with the general i hired a mercnary Turkic and arab army to reach Rome and exterminate the pope.
I just want to know one thing, what happens when you destroy the papacy states (pope)? do you end christianity or does the papacy become your puppet????
I rule the whole of France and England including cyprus and some place near denmark, now i will destroy the pope.

Are you talking about MTW1?
If so, to get rid of excommunication:
-your king must die, or
-the pope must die
You can't eliminate the Papacy. They'll ALWAYS come back!
PS: this is also useful, ways to get excommunicated:
-waging war* with a Catholic faction that's less than half your size in number of provinces.
*: invading a province or a naval engagement that's not stopped within 2 years of the first attack. After that 2 year period, you can't attack for the coming 10 years. So better to finish off the enemy before then. Oh yeah, if a small opponent (like the Kingdom Aragon) invades one of your provinces and you retreat the garrison to the castle, breaking the siege equals attacking. So think before you do anything stupid.

lol thanks but its medieval total war 2 which i play somewhere else...
Basically if i destroy the pope in mtw2 what happens, ****, do they respawn somewhere else or does the papacy become your puppet??
I lost a whole army of elites man, **** the pope, i am going to destroy that rome with a mercenary army hired from the Middle east, i already have Turcomans, arabs, turco poles, etc. In addition, i have another army situated in southern France the size of 1400 men ready to protect that mercenary army, if anything goes wrong i will invade italy from Cyprus lol lol

Don't bother attacking the pope. from memory they can be wiped out but will respawn constantly as a rebel faction.
Best thing to do is use your excommunicated status as an excuse to take down some other catholic nations, especially the ones with lots of cardinals. Once you are no longer excommunicated build lots of religious buildings and units and get your guys elected as cardinals as there should be lots of vacant spaces now. Get yourself your own pope who will then be biased against your enemies and excommunicate them. You can then get crusades called against them.
This will take a few years but well worth it in terms of a grand strategy.

I always manage to crusade and take the Holy land, convert it to Catholicism and turn the Middle East into a rabble. Viva le France.
Then again its easier to become a super power with the HRE once you get the spy and assassin network up, stops all rebellion and the best generals become Emperor, invincible.

Funny I am replaying MTW I right now.
I usually play as the English in the grand campaign so my favourite early game strategy is...
1. Take Antwerp (the revenue from here is insane)
2. Ignore the warning from the Pope...get excommunicated
3. Finish exterminating the French (I swear the computer cheers...just kidding)
4. Move on to Aragon and the northern Spanish provinces for their iron (+1 attack)
5. Somewhere around here my king will usually die of natural causes...clearing the excommunication
6. Go after Scandinavia again for the iron in Sweden
7. Take the Denmark, Scotland, Ireland and the rest of Spain (all trivial at this point)
At roughly this point longbowmen become available and you should have enough shipwrights to begin churning out ships...with longbowmen, all infantry (including the dreaded SAP) in the game become little more than targets and naval domination generates huge amounts of gold due to trade.
The rest of the game is really just wiping out one empire after another, with the outcome never in doubt.
Due to the Papacy's always respawning, the boot of Italy is usually the last to fall against me...there is something surreal about a Pope who excommunicates someone who owns all provinces but 3.

The English are easy to play, they have a little Island to protect themselves. Playing on the continent is where its at... At least in the first MTW.
Managed to conquer Europe and the ME with everyone bar a few boring countries. Must admit, the Polish red over Europe looks pretty reminiscent of a Soviet take over

He just respawns every 5 - 10 years with several max strength armies of the best troops available.
Usually I wipe him out, and then I keep a huge number of armies in the area and wait for him to respawn. He usually respawns in 3 regions so I give him one (after destroying every last building) and wipe his armies out in the other 2. It appears that his troop upkeep costs keep him from ever building anything, so he is stuck with one province and no way to generate additional troops.
By the way ensure you rule the seas without challenge (it also generates vast sums of money).

Usually I just setup the province on the UK to start churning out ships (best ones available) and inchworm them down to the Mediterranean. If you totally pull out of a region that Pope respawns into you won't be excommunicated when he respawns, just make sure you destroy every building so he can't build new troops.
