Yeah, I tried cutting and pasting it didn't work.
I set-up a phpbb forum last year and was having the same problems with the confirmation. I just turned off the confirmation cause I couldn't figure out how to fix it.
The only problem then is that people can sign-up with fake email addresses. Or you could confirm each one manually but that would take time on your part.
