The European Union Parliament is pressuring the Turkish Government to restore Saint Sophia Cathedral from a museum into a Greek Orthodox Church. However the Parliament has set a requirement of 1.000.000 signatures on a petition before it makes this conversation a prerequisite for Turkey's admission into the European Union.

Get as many Greek Orthodox, other Orthodox and Christian friends of yours to sign the petition and make history.

Is it just me, or did that display incorrectly? Anyway, I was saying It's good to see so many different Orthodox nationalities supporting this! I had a good responce on a serb site, Bulgarian and Romanian site here... It's very good!!

Hi. I am wondering. Is this really pressure from the EU or actually just a petition TO the EU parliament? There is a big difference you know. I am all for this idea but please do not give everyone mis-information by telling them in your original post that the "EU Parliament IS PRESSURING the Turkish government" on this. Frankly, I know this type of request is beyond the capabilities and legalities of the EU.

I also wonder if the Turks have removed any of the murals and icons painted on the inside walls of the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople. Has anyone been there and seen the inside? Would it take much repairs?

As far as i know they didn't remove all of them, but instead added their own staff there.
