Pretty hard to compare artists, statesmen and the like, but in the end I voted for Stefan Cel Mare. Amazing military leader, I've read on Wikipedia that he was victorious in 34 of his 36 battles, even though the adversary was a great power.

One I'd also think deserved to be on the list is Iorga, one of the greatest Romanian minds ever.

Yes great military leader but to be a great romanian you must done something for Romania and Romanians.
Stefen the Great did something just for a part of romanians (moldavians)
What do you think about Michael the Brave?
Carol I did something for romanians and his work was continnued by his cousin Ferdinand I.

Daca Daniil nu exista, Stefan cel Mare si a sa universitate de mantuire, a intregului popor roman, nu ar fi existat. Toate bisericile si monastirile sale sunt consecinta inrauririi intru credinta a unui sfant....si o punte catre viitor. Secole de-a randul monastirile lui Stefan a raspandit credinta in Romania, in fel si chip: preoti, calugari, credinta scrisa,etc.
