I am damn proud to be a Hungarian and I don't understand why people have to come on here and say degrading things about us. It just demonstrates ignorance on their part.

I just wanted to say hello to you all, having been to Hungary and must say was such a nice experience, especially Buda-pest it's capital city.
I visited Hungary a few years after the communist rule collapsed early 1990's, then it had such a nostalgic feel about it, liked Buda-pest being two parts Buda and Pest city divided only by the Danube River.
Many good memories.

I think that most of those who enjoy bashing us Hungarians probably never been to Hungary, don't know anything about us (even though they might claim they do), and think that bashing us helps them to enforce their own national identity. It's pretty stupid if you ask me as i never felt the need to say degrading things (as you put it) about Romanians, Serbs, Slovaks etc to feel more Hungarian, i never felt that hating others is in any way part of belonging to a nationality, or being proud of ones ancestors. I'm proud as well even though it means less and less to be hungarian in this changing globalised world. I can probably understand nationalism on the part of those Hungarians who don't live in Hungary proper, as they might feel that their identity is in some way threatened (it is not in my right to judge if it really is though). Here in Hungary nationalism is frowned upon to a great extent, imho there should be a healthy amount of nationalism in everyone, problem is many just don't know what is too much, and many don't know what is too little. Things don't look good, and will only get worse.
I'm no nazi, and i'm no communist, just an everyday Hungarian who is a bit disillusioned by the blatant, blind anger that is surrounding us, as i don't know what we have done that justifies such a response (i know of our crimes, but we were made to pay for those tenfold, we are more then even). I don't think Hungary poses a threat to anyone around it, if this hate stemms from fear, it simply has no base. Not that it matters. There are people who you simply can't reason with.
I'll soon leave Hungary. I've been pondering wether to pick Canada or Australia... That's a though one. I'll leave bickering, malicious, vengeful, frothing mouthed eastern europe behind, let it spew anger without me, i'm not needed in assiting to it's demise, it will happen no matter what. I just feel sorry for those who are unlucky enough to still be sitting on this barrel of gunpowder when it goes off. Well, there is no justice in the world, there never was. I for one will keep Hungary alive, in my heart and dreams, the way i like to think of it. That is that.
I take the responsibility for all that i said.
Cheers from Hungary
Zoltan
