It is a sad day for the whole Church of Christ, but as what Bro. Erano Manalo, Ka Erdy always quote "To live is Christ, to die is gain". Truly, he lived a life in Christ and spending all of it in the service of God. His memories will stay in our hearts until we meet the Lord.

Does a person need to be a member of a church or religion, in order to be saved?

John 5:24
"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

John 6:47
I tell you the truth, he who believes has everlasting life.

John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 10:9
I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.

Acts 2:21
And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.'

Acts 15:11
No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are."

Acts 16:31
They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household."

Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:13
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

1 Corinthians 15:2
By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

Ephesians 2:8
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

So as you can see, there is only one requirement that must be met in order to be saved, that is to believe and accept Jesus Christ.

One does not have to be a member of a church, one does not have to hear some lies from a con-artist named Felix or Errano (error).

All you have to do is believe, and you are saved, PERIOD!

This is irrefuteble, no INC minister can refute any of these verses, not a single one. Jesus also confirms you must accept who He claimed himself to be, in order to believe.

John 8:21
21 Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come." This made the Jews ask, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, 'Where I go, you cannot come'?" But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins."

John 10:28-30
28I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30I and the Father are one."

John 10:33
33"We are not stoning you for any of these," replied the Jews, "but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God."

John 5:16-23
“So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jews persecuted him. 17 Jesus said to them, "My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working." 18 For this reason the Jews tried all the harder to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself EQUAL with God.

But yes, look at one of the verses you quoted, John 10:9.

October 8 2008, 4:06 PM

"Whoever enters through me will be saved". Enters what? The Church. Jesus died for the church (Acts 20:28).

Also the verses you quoted are incomplete, there is another requirement for salvation, namely repentance, see for example Acts 2:38. So you have to look at all the verses relevant to salvation. Faith is not enough.

Um, Jesus is the Gate, not the church, did you not read the verse??????

November 15 2008, 9:46 PM

You need to come to realize that the Bible is God's word. Since God is perfect, so is His Word. Scripture is with no errors and no faults, no lies.

All of the verses I quoted are complete, perfect, with no error.

You first need to accept this as fact before you call yourself a Christian, otherwise any con artist will tell you lies and you will believe them.

Trust the Holy Scriptures, and NOT what someone tells you. Otherwise you will be conned into believing lies!

7Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. 8All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved.[a] He will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Jesus Christ is the gate that we enter through, not the church.

John 10:7
Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep.
John 10:6-8 (in Context) John 10 (Whole Chapter)

Jesus says "I AM THE GATE".

The church is not the Gate.

But the gate to what? Obviously to the church.

November 19 2008, 9:01 PM

You enter the church by the gate who is Jesus. He died for the church, not those outside, see Acts 20:28. When we are saved, God adds us to the church. You cannot reject the church.

CHURCH? HAHAHHAHAH NO, get serious, the gate to eternal life with the Father

November 20 2008, 8:27 PM

My goodness, "obviously to the church"?

You must be in a cult.

Jesus Christ is the gate, you enter "ETERNAL LIFE" through him, and him alone.

The gate is to eternal life, salvation, heaven, the Father.

Only a cult would ever say "church".

Yes, ultimately eternal life, but the church is the path to it.

November 21 2008, 5:43 PM

Read 1 Cor. 11:22, there Paul condemns those who despise the church. So you should not despise the church, but love it. Christ loves the church, see Eph. 5:25.

Let me clarify, you don't have to belong to a congregation,

October 8 2008, 4:13 PM

but you have to belong to the Christian church. When you believe and repent, God adds you to the Church. Rejecting the Church is not good. Jesus died for the Church.

All of the verses I quoted refute you and your comment

November 15 2008, 9:48 PM

Saved is saved.

There is no verse that states one has to be a member of a church, congretation or anthing else.

John 3:16, Romans 10:9, all you have to do is believe and accept Jesus Christ, and you are saved....

PERIOD!

Please, how can you begin to disagree with me on this? All of the verses I quoted prove this undeniably. Why wont you accept these verses? Why can't you accept this?

You cannot take those verses alone.

November 19 2008, 9:27 PM

Those 2 verses, John 3:16 and Rom. 10:9 give only a part of the story. For example if you took John 3:16 alone, you would not know that we also need to believe Jesus is Lord and God raised him from the dead. Or if you took Rom. 10:9 alone, you would not know that we also need to believe Jesus is the Son of God. So we need to look at all the verses.

Important verses to consider are Acts 20:28, which says Jesus gave his blood for the church, and Eph. 5:23 which says Jesus is the head of the church and savior of the body. The body is the church, see verse 30. Also see verse 25 "... Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her". Yes, he handed himself over for the church, not for those outside. So those who believe you can be saved outside the church, like what the Catholics believe, or the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, or Landmarkist Baptists, are wrong. When  you accept Jesus, God adds you to the church, see Acts 2:47 in the KJV or other versions based on the Textus Receptus. The church is all the saved Christians, regardless of denomination. There is no salvation outside the Church. Luther had it right, the Church is invisible, consisting of all saved Christians. It is not some visible institution with a pope or president or executive minister at the head. Jesus is the head of the church (Eph. 5:23 mentioned above).

No verse will conflict or disagree with another

November 20 2008, 8:24 PM

All of the verses I quote cannot be refuted, canceled, changed, nullified or disregarded by any other verse.

No verse will conflict with another verse, no verse will cancel out another verse.

Every verse I quoted is God's infallible. When God speaks a truth, and ends it with a period, the thought is complete.

John 3:16 is complete.

Romans 10:9 is complete.

These verses stand complete, not alone, but complete, with a big fat period.

No verses conflict, but you need all verses together.

November 21 2008, 6:05 PM

The way to be informed about the requirements for salvation is to read all the verses that talk about it, one verse is not enough, or even 2 verses. John 3:16 is good in informing us we need to believe Jesus is the Son of God, but it is not enough. It is just partial information, you need more to get the whole picture. It does not conflict or disagree with other verses, but it gives us only part of the information. Heresies like Christian Science and the Unification Church also believe Jesus is the Son of God, yet they are not saved, because they do not meet other requirements. The Unification Church believes Jesus is a Christ, a Messiah, yet we need to believe he is THE Christ (John 20:31, 1 John 5:1). Christian Science believes Jesus did not die, yet we need to believe he died for our sins (1 Cor. 15:3), and that God raised him from the dead (Rom. 10:9). Christian Science also believes that flesh is not real, yet we have to believe Jesus came in the flesh (2 John 7). So both are false gospels.

We need to believe all that, and also repent (for example Acts 2:38). So we cannot rely on one verse alone, but get all the verses on the topic to get the whole picture.

you are correct that all the verses that you have quoted is God's infallible and its though is complete.
the only fallible is your understanding about the verse and the incomplete is your thoughts about the verse. for God said His thought is not your thought. So let not interpret the Bible by your thought but allow the bible to interpret for itself. The Bible interpret in James 2 that faith without a work is dead.and faith is not alone.

19You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe thatand shudder. James 2:19

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?

faith is not alone!!!!

if you refute this then refute James the Apostle.!"24You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone. "James 2:24

not just believe alone. believing means doing his words

May 11 2009, 7:22 AM

some says just believe and acept jesus christ period you will be save.

but if u understand the meaning of term u believe means you perform the words of god. acept jesus christ means doing gods will and fulfill in your life gods will.

so its not period. we must be co maker of jesus. we do works for our salvation. the meaning of so no one will boast .it means while we are working for our salvation by doing gods words. jesus is the one helping us give us strenght for us to continue doing opur works. because we believe him and do his words. so if jesus is the one helping us giving us strenght in order for us to perform that works of will of god. no one will boast because we done that because of the guidance of jesus that one we acept and believe. thats the way it is to understand.
