Uniform and Image

Response to Help in identifying uniforms

What is interesting about this image is that it is reversed. Note that the buttons are on the wong side and that the bayonet frog appears to be on the right hip, not the left. The headdress looks like it is worn canted properly, but it was also worn square on the head. Unfortunately the weapon details are not clear, the rifles could be either P 1853 Enfield or Sniders, which would have helped in dating the picture. The tunics are low rounded collar type with no breast pockets which I would guestimate at between 1860 and 1880.
