Response to Button pattern

In the British Brigade of Guards seniority can be seen in the button arrangement; Grenadier Guards wear buttons singly, Coldstream in pairs, Scots Guards in threes, Irish in fours and Welsh Guards in groups of five buttons.
In Canada the senior Guards regiment is the GGFG but they wear their buttons in pairs in keeping with the affilited Coldstream, while the Cdn Grenadier Guards wear singles although they are the second senior Guards regiment.
