Let the Dieppe film be like the real Diepe experience - a fiasco whose greatest contribution was in 'lessons learned' and let us move on and tell other great Canadian stories such as the 100 Days, Caen, Liberation of Holland, Kapyong, the "D-Day Dodgers" and countless others. Let us look at our earlier history and correct some of the crap that was portrayed in films such as "The Patriot", let's take a realistic look at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham (like that will ever happen). Let's not forget Group 6 of Bomber Command, The Corvette navy that was Canada's great RCN contribution. How about Fuller, the Pirate of the Med - a Canadian MTB commander. Damn, the list just goes on and on.
The important thing is to make them entertaining, not politically correct (keep them away from the CBC) and accurate in the general story line allowing for some minor detours for dramatic interest.
All of the above said I am reminded of the saying that freedom of the press is guaranteed only to those who own one. If you want a movie made that portrays your interests then be prepared to finance it yourself - next best thing is to support good movies through attendance.
