Found some photos of RNZAF aircrew serving in France in autumn/winter of 1944. Some of these gents are wearing the 1939/43 ribbon. I believe the 180 days operational service was still the award criteria at this point.
The below photo believed to be at Amiens/Glisy, (B.48), in France. This is 488 (NZ) Squadron. Ron Watts was the CO until squadron disbandment in April 1945. 488 Sqdn moved onto the continent 3 months after D-Day.
