Isn't it a Brooch?

It states in the catalogue that the item in question, a Marguerite badge in gilt or enamel, is a brooch. Wouldn't a brooch be something a soldier or officer would give to his lady friend rather than wear on a uniform? In fact all of the items are identified as brooches and the page they are on is titled MILITARY SOUVENIRS.

Now I could be wrong. Great War badges are not my area of expertise but I think these items are gifts and not meant for uniforms.
