Come to think of it, I've pulled off a few crazy stunts myself just for the fun
of it. No other reason. One was leaving an airplane at twelve-five in free fall with a static line rig on my back and the snap fastener hooked onto the reserve D-ring of another guy in free
fall. How crazy was that? Especially when we were both jumping Rogallo wings.
Ah, ignorance is bliss.
Although I might come off as a cranky old guy sometimes, I really do think it's great that
there are guys like Dave who do the kind of jumping the commemorative guys do. Especially a
guy such as Dave who'd never been a military jumper. It's wonderful!
Sometimes I'm a bit too heavy on these young guys. Sorry.
Heck, Dave probably has more static line jumps than the average airborne trooper! And he pays
to do it! How enthusiastic a jumper is that? And how many of us have had the privilege of jumping
in on DZs in Normandy and Arnhem? That alone has got to be a rush for any airborne trooper!
