Roger, not to sound cruel and I am not picking on you, but your request for information on which way guns point and the correct side that lanyards are worn on; are those not the sort of things that you should be researching? Sure, the question posed to you was out of the blue, and I certainly realize that many eyes on an item see different things, but after the initial euphoria of obtaining a piece you really need to sit down and ask yourself, is the lanyard on the correct side or did it get removed and then replaced by a previous owner who did not know the difference? Why are the gun badges pointing in the same direction to the rear, is this normal and can I find an image or a document that explains this? It is this primary research that can be just as rewarding as finding the actual example and it sure can be personally rewarding when someone asks a question like that of the badges or the lanyard and then to be able to come back with an answer drawn from primary sources; rather than posting a question asking others if they have the answer.

Here is another trick, when you get an answer, no matter who it is from, ask for proof. Your experienced collectors have a lot of knowledge that they willingly share, and I know that I am not offended providing proof; so by doing this we can eliminate many of the myths that seem to stay within the collecting community.
