Judgemental

Response to Just saying what I saw

I posted this originally as I thought that it may be of interest to some forum participants. I don't remember seeing anywhere that a person would be forced to apply or wear the medal and I certainly don't remember inviting scorn for long-serving CF members who didn't qualify for the SSM, a UN medal or any of the recent (last 20 years) missions where shots are being fired in anger.
Until the advent of the SSM most service performed by the CF went unrecognized and only those who put in 12 or more years would get a gong. Even the Canada 125 was not widely distributed to the CF (the same applies to the 25th and 50th Jubillee medals.)
The issue of a "National Defence" medal is not unique. Although Britain has just rejected the idea both Australia and New Zealand issue such recognition.
If you agree with the idea go ahead and sign the petition. If you don't agree with it then ignore the petition - you can even let your MP know your position - but don't get so almighty judgemental because you haven't earned that right.
