| An interesting question to ask would be who would be likely to spend $120,000 dollars at one go on a "collection." It's an interesting notion, but any serious collector with that much disposable income is more likely going to be interested in a more valuable item such as original art, rare uniform, vintage vehicle, etc. Larger items will appreciate in value; and be easier and less costly to ship (and catalog) than a room full of crates.
This smacks of laziness on the part of the vendor, or possibly a certain wiliness if there is simply a lot of typical "surplus junk" scattered among a few gems of militaria gold. Sell the gold on ebay and you still have a garage full of the junk that no one wants, but sell it as a lot and you have a happy wife.
