I guess it comes down to who is doin' the sayin'. I remember having Bill Cavanagh (my sergeant) tear me a new one back in the mid 1960s for saying 'the Royal Regiment of Canada' and not 'The Royal Regiment of Canada' (yes saying, not writing). Bill was a tough and demanding senior NCO, but he stood by his people ... and his principles.
In those days, and probably today, Bill was never wrong. Forgive us all for the sin of pride.
