I know I've asked this before, but I still have questions about the orientation of 8th Division patches. Mr. Dorosh's site has the wide side of the maroon facing forward (placing the green over the maroon as it should be) but resulting in the flash being worn with the diagonal running opposite to that of the 6th and 7th Division flashes. Is this correct? Otherwise, if the Green is to be over the Maroon, and if the diagonal runs per the 6th and 7th, the wide side of the green must be facing forward.
Colin Stevens, on his site, has what appears to be a period sketch of 6th, 7th and 8th Div. vehicle flashes. The 6th and 7th are as expected (red over blue - red forward; grey over green - grey forward; BUT then it shows the 8th directly underneath in the same orientation with maroon over green - maroon forward. How come? Is there an official instruction, or better, and existing tunic?
