For those that don't know the difference between wartime expediency, military manuals, and doing foolish things in the bush, there are laws. Here is the current CF policy - don't know when if was first enacted:
"The use of, including tampering with, CF service ammunition, commercial ammunition or explosives, for other than their designed purpose, is prohibited."
