I dearly wanted to like this docudrama and it was evident that quite a bit of research had gone into the production, but about 30 minutes or so I just plain lost interest in the show. I think it would have been better if the money alloted for the 2 hours had been used for a 30 minute production covering only one person's story.
I still wonder how much it would have cost to rent a proper M4 Sherman from the US rather than use the post-war variant. I was asking myself if there is that much of a Sten shortage in Canada that Thompsons had to be used in some of the scenes and how much would it have cost to give some of the actors hair cuts?
All in all better than most, and it would be nice to be able to talk to the production company and pass on some lessons learned notes.
One big plus, Paul Gross had nothing to do with this production....
