Hi guys,
I have a friend who is trying to research his fathers service in WWII. This is the information he has to work with. RCOC 202 Inf Ord Sub-Park UK first
Can anyone shed some light on this unit for us, please?
Regards,
Jeff
The unit was formed in 1940 and arrived in the UK in December 1940. It was the supply unit for 2 Canadian Infantry Division (2 CID), providing clothing, repair parts, paint, and weapons of all types, among other things. It did not supply food, fuels or ammunition to units although it had full responsibility for ammunition at division level and above.
The unit went through a series of name changes* from 1940 till it was disbanded in 1945 but it was always the Ordnance unit of 2 CID.

Hi Jeff;
Some additional information to add to Doug's comment "The unit went through a series of name changes from 1940 till it was disbanded in 1945..."* in regards to the name changes the unit underwent:
2nd Divisional Ordnance Field Park, RCOC was authorized effective 28 September 1940 and was converted and re-designated 2nd Infantry Divisional Sub-Park, RCOC effective 14 January 1943, which was converted and re-designated 2nd Infantry Ordnance Sub-Park, RCOC effective 7 February 1944, which was re-designated No. 202 Infantry Ordnance Sub-Park, RCOC effective 15 July 1944, which was disbanded effective 17 July 1945.
I forgot to add that the War Diaries for No. 202 Infantry Ordnance Sub-Park, RCOC, can be found at Library and Archives Canada, which is located in Ottawa. The file references for the diaries are: RG24, National Defence, Series C-3, Volume 16064 and RG24, National Defence, Series C-3, Volume 16065 (File Title: No. 202 Infantry Ordnance Sub Park, Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps).
Hi Mark,
Some great information again, thanks!! We are in the process of gathering the necessary information to request his service file from the Archives. He sure is looking forward to learning more about his Dad's service.

Jeff

I have a 202-signroad that was dugged up in the area of Zeist and Soesterberg in the Netherlands. Can anybody confirm that this unit spent time in this area after 5 May 1945?
