Drugs deaths double over 10 years
Diazepam, formerly known as Valium, is prescribed for insomnia and anxiety Eighty-six people died in Northern Ireland in 2007 where the cause of death was drug-related.
A report from the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency found that the number has doubled in the last ten years.
Nearly two thirds of the deaths were due to intentional self poisoning.
Diazepam was the drug with the most deaths attributed to it at 21. There were 20 deaths where antidepressants were listed as the cause of death.

Codeine - 16
Heroin/morphine - 10
Paracetamol - 8
MDMA/ecstasy - 5
Cocaine - 3
The findings relate to both legal and illegal drugs.
The number of drug related deaths is higher for men than women, with men accounting for 60% of drug related-deaths between 1997 and 2007.
The average age of those who died in 2007 was 40 years
