"....Note: A live ransomed Windows environment provides lots of forensic information, like which processes have started and which processes run full screen (blocking access to the desktop). This information gives HitmanPro a solid lead on which files and registry keys belong to the ransomware. An obvious advantage over rescue CDs that boot into a different environment and rely on virus signatures.

Create HitmanPro.Kickstart USB flash drive

The following video will show you how to turn any existing USB flash drive into a HitmanPro.Kickstart USB flash drive, using just a few clicks..."

The above link is re protection against RANSOMWARE

For other stuff some useful antimalware downloads are:     rkill   malwarebytes    mcaffee stinger    hitman pro  and others.

- all probably most effective when they're downloaded in  'safemode with networking' for XP, don't know what the equivalent for Windows 7 or 8 are....

with RKILL needing to be run FIRST as it somehow disactivates any activity by malware until stopped or reboot (I think thats how it works - it DOES work anyway) and so allows stingers etc to thoroughly  remove the malware when its found.

Feel free to add other threat removal methods in this thread, I'm sure there's plenty more.

I expect the above is well known to plenty of visitors, but posting it anyway...just in case anyone needs it  happy.gif
